PARENTS: Take your child to see a dentist by the child's first birthday, and return for follow-up visits as often as recommended. Enroll your child in story hours and other fun filled library programs. Make sure everyone in your family has a library card and that they use it. Some gifted children talk four months earlier than the average child, some do not talk until they are two or three years old (Einstein did not talk until the was four years old.) When behaviors are rewarded (for example, by paying attention to them), they are more likely to be repeated. MY WORD the above informationm are hints in general on raising your child.

PARENTS: Frequently asked question from parents: MY CHILD ATTENDS DAYCARE AND IS ALWAYS GETTING SICK. We can't predict when a child is coming down with an illness. Unfortunately, until the illness is in full bloom other children are susceptible to germs from the sick child. A good diet, lots of fresh air and plenty of rest will help children to defend themselves against germs. MY WORD: children build up immunity when they are sick. There is always a good side to life.

CAREABOUTKIDS

PARENTS: Children master two-word sentences like "all gone" or "me go' at about 18 months or 2 years of age. Parents are a key ingredient in the development of their child's abilities. Exposure to stimulating and enriching environments provides children with major advantages for cognititve development. MY WORD: Parents are everything to a child. Do your very best.

CAREABOUTKIDS

PARENTS: The child's environment consists not only of objects to play with, but also of people-parents, siblings, and peers- with whom a child needs to interact. As a matter of fact, children like to play near adults because that is where exciting things happen. Also, it is where the child particularly the young child feels safe. MY WORD; Just being near a parent makes a child feel loved.
