PARENTS: In the kitchen: don't leave your baby alone in a highchair; always use all safety straps. This will prevent injuries and deaths from the baby climbing out, falling, or sliding under the tray. Be sure to use safety straps in strollers and baby swings. Use your stove's back burners and keep pot handles turned to the back of the stove. This will prevent deaths and injuries from burns. In addition keep children away from tablecloths, so they can't pull down hot foods or liquids on themselves. Lock household cleaning products, knives, matches, and plastic bags away from children. This will prevent poisonings, bleeding injuries, burns, and suffocation. MY WORD:By being cautious you habitually will become aware of all possible dangerous situations.

PARENTS:Each time a child learns something, the information is stored in her memory. There are different kinds of memory. Sensory information may stay only long enough to be realized. (A child hurts himself and usually forgets it quickly). Short-term memory information stays about 30 seconds. Long-term memory keeps some information for many years or a lifetime. The mind sorts what has been learned and finds ways to use it. The older a child becomes, the longer she can store facts, lists, instructions, words, plans, images along with other information and ideas in her memory.MY WORD:Understanding the different types of memory will help you to realize why your child may forget something that you may feel important but is not to your child.
