PARENTS: The father's role in bringing up the children, from infancy on, is now recognized as every bit as important as the mother's. Parents might well consider encouraging children to follow their interests rather than restricting them to activities once considered appropriate for their sex. Such restrictions can limit development. MY WORD: Fathers and daughters can play basket ball in the yard as well as fathers and sons.
