CAREABOUTKIDS

PARENTS: Each time children learn something, the information is stored in their memory. The mind sorts what has been learned and finds ways to use it. The older children become, the longer they can store facts, lists, instructions, words, plans, images, and ideas in their memory. A child who is used to playing only with a parent may try to take the parent's role when he plays with other children and force other into lesser parts. He may begin by saying. "Im the father," if there is already a "father" and the other children do not want to give him the role, he has the choice of sitting by the sidelines or accepting another part. As he learns to play in groups, he is more ready to take turns in informal games, such as maneuvering trucks and cars, and playing house or doctor.MY WORD: the more children interact with one another the easier it will be for them to become socially confident.

CAREABOUTKIDS

PARENTS: Certain things influence children's success and interest in reading. They are: wide knowledge- the more knowledge children acquire at home the greater their chanaces to become successful readers. Children who go on trips, walk in parks, and visit museums and zoos get good background knowledge for school reading. Thoughtful talking - the way in which you talk to your child about things makes a big difference. Talking can increase the child's supply of concepts and vocabulary. It's not enough to ask a queston. ("Why do you think there's a slip of paper under the windshield wiper"?) Thought provoking questions stimulate the curiosity needed for success in reading. MY WORD: Reading opens up the entire world to your child.

PARENTS: Many parents realize that their children have asthma before their physicians do. An accurate diagnosis, however, is most important in helping to determine an appropriate individualized treatment program. Physicians specializing in allergy/ immunology have special skills in the area of asthma management. The allergy and asthma specialist will detect and determine those environmental elements (pollen, molds, dust mites, animal danders worksplace chemicals) which may be causing a patient's asthma condition. A careful medical history, physical examination, selective allergy skin testing and lung function studies are typically performed. Allergy blood tests, home and workplace evaluations, and x-rays of the sinuses and lungs may be required as well. The most important step in the initial treatment of asthma is making the right diagnosis.MY WORD:Colds can often be mistaken for allergies.
